VICTORY: Geoff Noble was outright winner in round 1 for B drivers in the Queensland Super Sprints at Morgan Park Raceway.
MOTOR RACING: Geoff Noble started the Queensland Super Sprints Series for B series drivers with an outright win in his Lotus Elise at Morgan Park at the weekend.
He was 12 seconds faster than second-placed Vikki Paxton in her modified Formula 3 racing car.
Noble hails from Brisbane and has been heading to Warwick for super sprints for most of the past decade. He has been an overall winner in the past.
Rain stopped racing prematurely at 2.30pm Saturday when the track received 40mm in 40 minutes but there was no stopping the drivers who all returned to the track early Sunday.
There was virtually no rain in town but the heavens opened at Morgan Park Raceway.
Warwick driver and club secretary John Torr won the Formula Vee class at the weekend from fellow Warwick driver Stephen Wilkins.
Brian Dunn was first in the sports class class in his Arrow Clubman.
In Formula Ford, Warwick driver Len Don was third as drivers from the host club enjoyed a successful weekend.
This weekend, the Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland have a ride day and then on April 30-May 1 the Historic Racing Car Club of Queensland holds its autumn meeting which is expected to attract more than 150 drivers.
It is expected up to 10 Warwick District Sporting Car Club members will compete at Morgan Park in the Autumn Historics.
Club officials hope all members of the new Southern Downs Regional Council and the CEO will be able to attend the meeting and see the activity at Morgan Park at a race meeting.
